Description	PARAMOUNT PICTURES CASTING SEARCH! Hi! My name is Kati Batchelder and I'm assisting with the casting of the newest Coen Brothers film, "True Grit." We're excited to be conducting a casting search in Minneapolis MN, and the surrounding states. At this time, we're focusing our search on the lead, Mattie, a 14 year old girl (ages 13 - 15 invited to submit). PARAMOUNT PICTURES IS SEEKING: 13-15 YEAR OLD GIRLS FOR THE LEAD IN A NEW COEN BROS FEATURE FILM “TRUE GRIT” SHOOTING SPRING 2010. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY SEEKING GIRLS FOR THE ROLE OF “MATTIE ROSS”: Fourteen year old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails, young woman in post-Civil War Arkansas. Her unusually steely nerves and straightforward manner are often surprising to those she meets. She possesses plenty of true grit and determination. Enough so that she insists on going with two marshals to hunt down the killer of her father. We are looking for a girl who's tough, strong and tells it like it is. Seeking kids to play a Southern girl just after the Civil War- must be able to play a true 13/14 year old. Natural acting and toughness needed- we are looking for a real kid. Story: "True Grit" tells the story of Mattie Ross, who is just fourteen years of age when a coward going by the name of Tom Chaney shoots her father down in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and robs him of his life, his horse, and $150 in cash money. Mattie leaves home to avenge her father's blood. With the one-eyed Rooster Cogburn, the meanest available U.S. Marshal, by her side, Mattie pursues the homicide into Indian Territory. "True Grit" is shooting in New Mexico and Texas and is slated to begin in March 2010.
